A Letter From Your Section Chair

  • September 05, 2019

As the 2019/20 Chair of the OBA's Criminal Justice Section, I'd like to personally invite you to renew your section membership for the upcoming year.

Our section plays an important role in your OBA membership and offers an opportunity for us, as legal professionals, to share our experiences, learn from one another, keep up-to-date on important changes in our area of practice, and forge lasting relationships that will contribute to our continued success.

Plus, as an OBA Section member, you can complete up to 6 of the substantive hours you need for your mandatory CPD requirement – for FREE – with your exclusive access to archived professional development programming.

Over the past year, our work included the development and presentation of several CPD programs and webinars, policy advocacy and law reform work, including submissions to the government on proposed legislation and procedure, input on the development and design of the New Toronto Courthouse and the 2201 Finch Bail Centre, and consultations with Legal Aid Ontario, along with the regular publication of our criminal section newsletter.

There are many opportunities to become involved as a member in the year ahead.  I invite you to join in and have your voice heard in working for the interests of the criminal justice section and for the profession as a whole.

If you haven't already, please be sure to re-enroll in Sections for the upcoming membership year to make sure you don't miss out on any of this year's exciting initiatives.

I look forward to representing the OBA's Criminal Justice Section this year, and hope to meet you at some of our events.

Sincerely,

Melanie J. Webb

2019/20 Criminal Justice Section Chair
