Social Media - How Much and What Type is Just Right

Thursday, June 7th, 2018 | 8:15 am - 9:30 am

Some commentators assert that social media for lawyers is not an option. Social media is how society interacts now, it provides an opportunity to learn, it facilitates a readily available opportunity to build a name for yourself and your firm, it offers the chance to build and grow relationships far faster than lawyers can do off-line, and it is the great equalizer. If done right, social media offers lawyers the power of sophisticated marketing and public relations. So, if social media is so essential for lawyers, what types of social media should lawyers engage in, how often and with what content and objectives in mind. Our speaker will walk us through the virtues and perils of social media.

Insurance - Cyber Liability

Thursday May 17, 2018 | 8:30am-9:30am

A number of high-profile and costly cyber breaches at U.S. law firms in recent years has resulted in growing demand for cyber-insurance products. Law firms have come to appreciate that they may be the next victim, may have to engage in cyber risk management and might even be named in a newspaper headline – much to their chagrin.  All of this begs the questions, what policies of insurance are available in the marketplace?  What cyber-insurance coverage is provided under each policy of cyber-insurance?  How necessary is cyber insurance to small and medium-size law firm and how protective of risk are these policies?  We will spend an hour with Patrick Bourk of Integro (insurance brokers) who has provided many cyber policies to law firms in Ontario and will walk us though the types of coverage available and the types of claims that insurers are starting to see.
