The Ontario Bar Association (OBA) is pleased to announce the winners of this year’s Association Awards. The recipients will be honoured at the OBA Awards Gala on May 31 in Toronto. 

Mante Molepo has been named the 2022-23 Ontario Bar Association Innovator in Residence and will lead the association’s new career accelerator for Indigenous and racialized lawyers in emerging areas of law.

This October, as we celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Women’s History Month – with the theme “She Did, So Now I Can” – we asked the trailblazers who are making OBA history as members of our Board’s very first all-female officers team about who inspires them today, and how they are leading inclusively and working to advance gender equality in the legal profession.

TORONTO – The legal community came together on Thursday evening to celebrate outstanding members of the profession who have made exceptional contributions to the practice of law in Ontario and to the Ontario Bar Association. This was the first OBA Awards Gala in three years, after the popular event was sidelined due to public health measures brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Noted legal historian Philip Girard, preeminent author and law professor has been honoured by the Ontario Government for excellence in legal writing, awarding him the Mundel Medal.

The Ontario Bar Association (OBA), a branch of the Canadian Bar Association and Ontario’s largest most diverse network of lawyers, is moving forward with an ambitious and achievable agenda to tackle inequality in the justice sector and beyond over the next 10 years.
