DESCRIPTION

This program will provide an introduction to Ontario franchise law, with an emphasis on how the law applies to traditional franchises and how to spot "accidental" franchises, the franchisor's disclosure obligations and statutory remedies available to franchisees where disclosure is deficient. The program will provide an overview of the key provisions of a typical franchise agreement and drafting tips for the commercial lawyer. Leading cases as well as recent and important legal developments will be highlighted from the perspective of both the litigator and the commercial lawyer. This program will appeal to both lawyers representing franchisors and franchisees and will help lawyers understand their clients' rights, obligations and potential liabilities.
