Communication Access to Justice

Many Canadians with speech and language disabilities and who may or may not use augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) do not have full and equal access to legal and justice services. They may experience communication barriers with police and when giving testimony in court.

Many Canadians with speech and language disabilities and who may or may not use augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) do not have full and equal access to legal and justice services. They may experience communication barriers with police and when giving testimony in court. They may need a range of communication access accommodations including a communication intermediary to assist them communicating in these situations.
