The Women's Legal Mentorship Program (“WLMP”) began in response to the growing issue surrounding the retention of women in the law. The WLMP is focused on shifting the culture of the legal profession and eliminating the barriers facing the retention of all women within the legal profession through its mentorship, leadership and professional development programming.

As the store shelves slowly fill up with back to school essentials I am reminded of two things: one, I happily will never be a student again; and, two, I had a lot of awesome support getting me through my last year of law school while pregnant. I know there may be other women out there who are pregnant or thinking of getting pregnant while in law school and so this article gives my top 6 survival strategies to make it through 9 months of growing a baby and learning the law.

Each month we will introduce a different member of the Women Lawyers Forum Executive. Learn a little bit about us, why we joined the executive and what we love about being a lawyer.

In September 2016, business schools across the province will welcome a new cohort of MBA students. In some of these universities, fresh-faced JD/MBA candidates will be scattered among them.

Sukanya Pillay was honoured by WLF on June 22, 2016 with the OBA Award of Excellence in the Promotion of Women’s Equality. Sukanya was another in a long line of outstanding women honoured since 1996 by the Women Lawyers Forum and its predecessor Feminist Legal Analysis Section. The Award recognizes the significant contributions made by feminists to the promotion of women’s equality rights in Canadian society, through their work for social justice or the advancement of substantive law.

Our jobs can be stressful. The stress can come from a variety of sources such as difficult clients, grueling workload, and running a practice. But, what about stress that is not part of our jobs? I’m talking about the stress experienced by those who are being harassed by a colleague, a senior lawyer or someone in the workplace or opposing counsel. If you are experiencing harassment in the workplace you do not need to suffer in silence, there is help.
