Dear Members,

I am delighted to welcome your readership of our 2018-2019 WLF Section web articles and Insiders. This year is our 25th anniversary as a section and we’ve kicked off the year so far with two successful programs – our annual social on September 12, 2018 and The Resilient Lawyer: Build Mental Wellness in Your Practice on September 17, 2018 – and we have so much more planned for this year.

Keep an eye out for an upcoming social in Hamilton on October 10; our joint 25th anniversary program with the CBA WLF on October 12; Feminist Fight Club on October 23, 2018; our TechXpo CPD about Social Media, Technology, and Innovation in a #MeToo World on November 8, 2018; and Pathways to Power: Women in Tech on November 27, 2018.

Our Section Insiders will regularly highlight articles by our members, past and upcoming programs, executive member introductions, and this year, I’m pleased to announce we will be adding two new regular sections to each Insider: a Parenting/Caregiving Support section and a Wellness Tips box to provide some seasonal encouragement on staying you and maintaining health through life’s many stresses.

In the Parents and Caregivers Support Section, you’ll find tips and tricks to maintain your sanity when your familial responsibilities throw you a curveball. Find yourself facing a particular problem or concern in your own life as a parent or carer? Write in with your comment or question. Your concerns may be answered in the subsequent edition by Laroux Peoples, a sole practitioner and mother of two young children in Toronto, and other parents and carers who have had similar experiences. Our Parent and Carer Supports aim to provide a platform for WLF members with family and other care responsibilities we may encounter throughout our lives to connect and help each other.

Similarly, we hope our Wellness Tips will help by providing seasonal encouragement on staying you and maintaining your health and wellbeing through life’s many stressors. What do you do to stay healthy and maintain positivity in your practice? Send a note to the editor (me) so we can share your tips with the section.

I hope you enjoy this Insider’s selection of articles and new features as much as I do.
