It is an honour to serve as Chair of the Information Technology and Intellectual Property Law Section of the Ontario Bar Association this year. With COVID-19 upon us, this has already been a transformative year in the way we practice, network, learn, and in the technology we rely upon to shepherd us through these tumultuous times.

As we adapt to these rapidly changing and uncertain times, the OBA IT & IP Law Section has been called upon to play a more important role than ever before. New technologies are taking on a vital position within the workplace and within society at large. As IP and IT practitioners, we are tasked with ensuring that our clients are able to use all the tools at their disposal to conduct business in the most effective and safe way possible. As new best practices evolve, the OBA IT & IP Law Section will endeavour to create frequent forums to discuss, communicate and share information in real time.

I invite those of you who wish to see particular programming added to the slate to contact me. Our role as the executive is to deliver cutting-edge, timely, and innovative programming for our Bar. The best way we can do this is to hear from you – and provide the type of programming you need to operate with confidence and practice effectively.
