Welcome to the 2019-2020 term! I am thrilled to be the new Chair this year. My first order of business is to thank all of the outgoing executive members for their efforts in making the previous term a success. I would also like to enthusiastically welcome all of our new executive members. This year is going to be one you won’t soon forget!
The first couple of meetings have been fantastic and I cannot wait to hear more from this year’s executive. They have their fingers on the pulse of the most relevant issues in IP and IT and are eager to deliver members meaningful and practical content over the next year.
I am also pleased to announce that over the course of the term we will be publishing a series called “Get to know your execs in five minutes or less”. This will let the membership know a little bit about each member of the executive. These short articles will provide a little more insight into who they are as lawyers and as humans, and what their goals for the section this term. If you have ideas for CPD programs or any other requests of the exec, these articles will help you know who to contact. We want to hear from the bar about how we can add the most value!
One of our primary goals for this term is to provide the section with sensational programming that is timely, practical and useful. The world of technology and IP is constantly changing and we need to be on top of these changes and how they affect us as providers of legal services and how they affect our clients in their businesses.
We already have a stacked list of programming for the year ahead and will be addressing practical considerations from the world of emerging technologies and recent cases and developments in the world of intellectual property.
