On April 1, 2019, family law fees increased! Currently the Ministry is recovering less than one third of fees. In increasing the filing fees, the Ministry is hoping to cover more of its costs to deliver services. This was the first fee increase in family services since 2004 (and in some cases since 2000).

The most notable increase is for uncontested trials, which increased from $280 to $420! For uncontested divorces, the total amount of disbursements are now $622.00 plus process server, which is a whopping increase $175 or 33 per cent. If your firm charges a flat fee, perhaps now might be the time to consider increasing your fee by approximately $200.
