  • October 18, 2013

OBA President Pascale Daigneault sat down with David Sterns to discuss the challenges civil litigators are facing obtaining motion and long trial dates. This interview was part of  the October 18th edition of OBA Today, the official show of the Ontario Bar Association.

Taking action on significant delays in obtaining motion dates and long trials has been a priority of the Ontario Bar Association’s and was the focus of discussion at the recent Fall Council meeting held in Niagara Falls, Ontario.  Council spoke unanimously in support of a resolution brought forward by Chair of the OBA Civil Litigation Section Guillermo Schible to take immediate steps to address these delays.   Many Council members stood up to discuss their personal experience and the impact this is having on their clients’ ability to access justice.

 The following resolution passed Council:

WHEREAS the Civil Litigation Section Executive finds that urgent corrective action is needed to address significant delays in obtaining motion dates and long trial dates,

NOW BE IT RESOLVED THAT the OBA take immediate steps to address these delays with necessary stakeholders.
