“Feathers of Hope: Child Welfare” Youth Forum brings youth voices to First Nations child welfare dialogue

  • May 22, 2015

May 22, 2015: Approximately 100 First Nations youth from Ontario added their voices in calling for changes to the province’s child welfare system. The youth gathered in Thunder Bay to attend the “Feathers of Hope: Child Welfare Youth Forum” – which is held on May 19-23 and hosted by the Office of the Provincial Advocate for Children and Youth.

A forum on child welfare was one of the key recommendations made by First Nations youth in Feathers of Hope: A First Nations Youth Action Plan — a ground-breaking report that calls for all levels of government to partner with youth to create healthier, safer communities.
