Charity and not-for-profit law is a discrete area of practice that deals with all aspects of the unique laws affecting charities and other types of not-for-profit entities, including those related to trusts, income tax, corporate and unincorporated organizations, and inter vivos and testamentary trusts.

The Charity and Not-for-Profit Law Section supports lawyers who practice in the sector and in particular:

  • provides regular learning opportunities;
  • provides input to decision-makers on legislative and regulatory changes; and
  • advocates for greater inclusion of charity and not-for-profit law in the law school curriculum.
