Action Needed on Significant Delays in Obtaining Motion Dates and Long Trials

  • September 23, 2013

Taking action on significant delays in obtaining motion dates and long trials was a focus of the Ontario Bar Association’s Fall Council meeting this weekend in Niagara Falls, Ontario.  Council spoke unanimously in support of a resolution brought forward by Chair of the OBA Civil Litigation Section Guillermo Schible to take immediate steps to address these delays.   Many Council members stood up to discuss their personal experience and the impact this is having on their clients’ ability to access justice.

The following resolution passed Council:

WHEREAS the Civil Litigation Section Executive finds that urgent corrective action is needed to address significant delays in obtaining motion dates and long trial dates,

NOW BE IT RESOLVED THAT the OBA take immediate steps to address these delays with necessary stakeholders.
