OCJ Notice to the Profession Regarding Resumption of In-Person Criminal Law Matters

The OCJ issued a new Notice to the Profession and the Public related to the resumption of in-person criminal hearings at certain OCJ courthouses. The Ministry of the Attorney General has advised that it is not satisfied with the health and safety measures in place to allow in-person criminal proceedings to resume on September 14, 2020 in the following locations: Gore Bay, Orillia, Stratford, and Woodstock. 

The OCJ issued a new Notice to the Profession and the Public related to the resumption of in-person criminal hearings at certain OCJ courthouses. The Ministry of the Attorney General has advised that it is not satisfied with the health and safety measures in place to allow in-person criminal proceedings to resume on September 14, 2020 in the following locations: Gore Bay, Orillia, Stratford, and Woodstock. Criminal trials and preliminary inquiries will not resume in these locations until further notice, and proceedings that were previously scheduled for the week of September 14-18 will be addressed through audioconference or videoconference in their location’s COVID-19 Trial Readiness Court instead.
