New Court Transcription Production Model

  • May 30, 2014

The Ministry of the Attorney General has advised that the new model for court transcript production in Ontario will be implemented on June 9, 2014.

Arkley Professional Services is the independent service provider, selected through a competitive procurement process, responsible for administering and maintaining the new List of Authorized Court Transcriptionists “(the List”). On June 9, 2014, the List will be found online on the Authorized Transcriptionists for Ontario website at courttranscriptontario.ca. In the interim, beginning on June 2, 2014, the website will contain general information on the new model.

Persons seeking to order a court transcript on or after June 9, 2014 will select a court transcriptionist of their choice from the List and contact them directly. All aspects of the transcript order will be agreed upon directly between the ordering party and the transcriptionist, including availability to prepare the transcript within the timeframe requested and payment and delivery of the transcript. The new model of court transcript production applies only to orders placed on or after June 9, 2014.

The new court transcript fee schedule for all transcript production orders submitted on or after May 1, 2014, can be found on the ServiceOntario e-Laws site. Note that where a transcript is not required, authorized ordering parties also have the option to purchase a copy of the digital court recording at a cost of $22.00 per day, per case, or $10.50 per day, per case, for a subsequent day’s recording if the request is made at the same time.
