Name: Ayush Arora
Position: Newsletter Editor, OBA IT/IP Law Section
Who is Ayush Arora?
I’m a lawyer at MNP, a national accounting, tax and business consulting firm, based in their Toronto office. My practice areas include technology, privacy and cyber security. I advise MNP’s digital line of business and consulting on its technology services, including digital advisory, application development, managed services, cyber security and privacy. In addition, I counsel senior leadership on open-source software licenses and technology engagements related to public offices. My work encompasses working on software licensing agreements and master services agreements, along with advising on privacy practices.
Why did you choose IT/IP and what would you tell a young lawyer entering the IT/IP field?
In addition to my legal education, I have completed a degree in computer science. This drives my motivation to explore various facets of digital innovation and technology law. In my previous roles, I served as Deloitte’s Digital Innovation Manager for its Global Tax & Legal practices and also as an advisor to PwC’s Digital Products and Transformation team.
To all the young lawyers exploring the IT/IP field, I would advise that they keep up with the latest news on these practice areas, and cultivate meaningful connections with industry professionals through coffee chats or industry events.
What were your goals for the IT/ IP Section this year?
My goal for the 2024-2025 term for IT/IP Section was to enlighten our readers with the latest developments in this space.
I am always enthusiastic to share insights in the field of technology law and hope to engage with young professionals embarking on their journey!
