Submissions

This submission was made as part of the Province’s review of the role and responsibilities of the Ontario Municipal Board (OMB) in land use planning matters.

This submission was prepared by members of the OBA Franchise Law Section and comments on the Changing Workplaces Review Special Advisors’ Interim Report, which is seeking input on a range of issues and the options for change that are under consideration in light of the changing trends of the modern workplace in today’s economy.

The Ontario Bar Association (“OBA”) appreciates the opportunity to comment on issues raised in the Law Society of Upper Canada (“Law Society”) Challenges Faced by Racialized Licensees Working Group (“Working Group”) Final Report “Working Together for Change: Strategies to Address Issues of Systemic Racism in the Legal Professions” (the “Final Report”).

The OBA appreciates the opportunity to make a submission to the Family Rules Committee as it consider r. 24 on costs under the Family Law Rules. The Family Rules Committee seeks input on a series of questions, including whether there should be an entirely new costs regime, whether or not the civil scales should be applied to family law proceedings, how such scales should be defined, and whether there should be any presumptive scales in family law.

The OBA appreciates the opportunity to make a submission on the Government’s Co-ordinated Land Us Planning Review, including the Proposed Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe, 2016, the Proposed Greenbelt Plan (2016), the Proposed Oak Ridges Moraine Conservation Plan (2016) and the Proposed Niagara Escarpment Plan (2016)

The Ontario Bar Association appreciates the opportunity to provide input on the Law Society of Upper Canada Professional Development and Competence Committee report to convocation dated September 22, 2016 addressing the Pathways Pilot Project Evaluation and Enhancements to Licensing.

The Ontario Bar Association (“OBA”) is pleased to provide comments to the Law Society of Upper Canada on issues and concerns raised in the Law Society’s Advertising and Fee Arrangements Working Group Report.

The Ontario Bar Association (the “OBA”) appreciates the opportunity to provide a submission to the Ministry of the Attorney General on issues raised in its consultation on legislation that will address parentage when assisted reproduction has been used. The OBA supports the Ministry’s efforts to address the determination of parentage in cases involving Assisted Reproductive Technology (“ART”).

The OBA appreciates the opportunity to comment on the Enabling Recovery from Common Traffic Injuries Report (ERCTI Report) and the Common Traffic Impairment Guidelines (CTI Guidelines) and encourages the government to carefully consider the stakeholder responses with respect to the methodologies and conclusions raised in the report.
