The SCJ has issued a new Protocol for the Central East region that outlines an alternative opportunity to have civil matters heard. The November 2020 civil trial sittings have been cancelled due to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. As such, the SCJ has issued a protocol which places civil trials, summary judgment motions, long motions and applications on a running list of cases that the Court may call in for trial or hearing as courtrooms and judges become available in the Central East Region. Beginning October 5, 2020, the Region will maintain two running lists: The Running Civil Trial Lists and The Running Civil Long Motions List. The protocol outlines how matters become eligible to be placed on both lists as well as other considerations. For more information, see the Central East Protocol.
