Ontario Business Registry (OBR) - ServiceOntario Account Upgrade Coming Soon

The Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery and Procurement has announced that the ServiceOntario Account for businesses is becoming the Ontario Business Account on February 23, 2026.

The ServiceOntario Account is an online account that individuals use to access the Ontario Business Registry (OBR) and manage their own business filings. The new Ontario Business Account will continue to support individuals who manage their own business information and submit filings through the OBR.

We are sharing this update to keep you informed, as some intermediaries in the legal sector help clients who use the ServiceOntario Account.

This change is part of the Ministry’s ongoing commitment to provide easier access to the existing services businesses need and improve their experience, making it simpler, clearer, and more convenient. Users will continue to have access to a wide range of business services including business registration, e-forms, and other resources. 

If you are an intermediary using ServiceOntario Account, the Ministry recommends transferring your account to the OBR Partner Portal, which is designed to help intermediaries manage client accounts efficiently.

No action is required at this time and there will be no change for intermediaries who use Partner Portal. This update is for your awareness only.
