Launch of Self Represented Trial Booking – Effective April 27, 2026

April 20, 2026

Effective April 27, 2026, the Self‑Represented Trial Booking Calendar will launch to streamline the scheduling of eligible self‑represented trials. These dedicated SharePoint calendars will be accessible to the Judiciary and Crown to allow eligible self‑represented trials to be booked directly in the Self-Represented Court (SRC) Courtroom 101, subject to the criteria outlined below.

This initiative is intended to support Jordan compliance and enable more efficient trial scheduling.

Trial/Adjournment Booking Process

  • Eligible self‑represented 1‑day trials may be booked directly using the designated SharePoint trial calendars.
  • Trial dates are expected to be set no earlier than 8 months from the booking date and no later than 15 months from the arrest date, in accordance with the Jordan Practice Directive.
  • Those matters older than five months that cannot be set within the 15-month window will schedule a Self Represented JPT instead of a trial. The Self Represented JPT will be given a priority on a soon as possible basis. A trial will be set at the Self Represented JPT stage as it is presently being done.
  • Crown Business Professionals in court will be responsible for entering the matter into the appropriate SharePoint calendar, ensuring accuracy of case details and proper calendar selection.
  • Adjournments of trials within this project will be done in the adjourning courtroom using the respective calendar to set a new trial.

Use of the Trial Coordinator’s Office

Matters must be booked through the Trial Coordinator’s Office if:

  • Matters where the trial has commenced and continuation date(s) are required.
  • Trials that cannot be accommodated within the calendars due to timing or complexity.

Key Reminders

  • Only matters meeting pilot eligibility criteria should be booked through the Self‑Represented Trial calendars.
  • Care should be taken to ensure that matters are assigned to the correct courtroom and corresponding SharePoint calendar.
  • The existing 1406 project continues to operate in parallel and is unaffected by this pilot.

Adjournments to Plea Court

On June 1, 2026, Courtroom 805 will begin operating as a fifth Plea Court to provide additional capacity to support timely resolution of matters. Additional information will be provided closer to that date.

  • Matters that are adjourned to plea court should only be adjourned when the matter is truly ready for a guilty plea.
  • Adjournments to plea court should not be used as a holding date where resolution discussions are ongoing or incomplete.
