Biography
Sameer is a partner at Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP in the tax group in Toronto. Sameer's practice focuses on tax disputes and litigation. He has represented financial institutions, mutual funds, and international and domestic businesses from a broad array of industries, including telecommunications, real estate, finance, utilities, and entertainment/media.
Sameer has extensive experience dealing with Canada’s general anti-avoidance rule (GAAR), interest and guarantee fee deductibility, transfer pricing, tax treaties, tax avoidance rules, goods and services tax/harmonized sales tax, derivatives, rectifications, voluntary disclosures, valuations, and capital/income characterization.
Sameer is skilled at dealing with the Canada Revenue Agency and provincial tax authorities to resolve disputes. He has also appeared before the Tax Court of Canada, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, and the Ontario Court of Justice.
Before joining Blakes, he practised tax litigation at another national law ?rm and, prior to that, was a clerk for the Tax Court of Canada.

Biography
Lisa is a tax lawyer. Her practice focuses primarily on tax litigation and resolving disputes with the Canada Revenue Agency and the Ontario Ministry of Finance. Lisa is bilingual, representing her clients in both English and French.
Lisa has appeared before the Tax Court of Canada, the Federal Court of Appeal and the Ontario Superior Court.

Biography
Natalie is a tax litigator and partner who represents SMEs and high-net worth taxpayers in disputes with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). Natalie has dedicated her practice exclusively to resolving tax disputes since 2008. She has achieved highly favourable outcomes for numerous clients and successfully represented clients before the Tax Court of Canada, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Federal Court, and the Federal Court of Appeal. Natalie regularly presents on tax matters and contributes articles, sharing her expertise in tax avoidance, shareholder benefits, and various tax issues. She also offers her insights on different methods to create advantages in tax disputes, including using probabilities and tax forecasting to devise innovative and effective litigation strategies. And she has developed courses to teach tax litigators about early case assessment, strategy in litigation, and decision science. Natalie also offers mentorship and coaching to litigation lawyers and rising stars outside of Counter’s team, fostering growth and litigation excellence within the broader legal community. Additionally, Natalie leads Counter’s "1% for Good" pro bono initiative, leveraging her in-depth tax and litigation expertise and passion for justice. At this time, the "1% for Good" initiative is pursuing projects that will increase CRA and DoJ accountability.
