DESCRIPTION

Since 2005, some 142 petitions and 16 private members bills called for the extension of the Ontario Ombudsman’s mandate into the broader public sector. With the passage of Bill 8, the Public Sector and MPP Accountability and Transparency Act, 2014, the Ombudsman’s jurisdiction has now been expanded to include school boards (commencing September 1, 2015), and universities and municipalities (commencing January 1, 2016).

What does this new oversight mean for these organizations and their stakeholders? Get the inside scoop on the process followed when a complaint is received and the considerations at play in its resolution. Learn how the Office is preparing for the anticipated increase in complaints, and bring your questions for our expert. If your clients include school boards, universities and municipalities, attend this program to ensure you are up to speed on the impact for your clients.
