Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks Consultation on Environmental Compliance and Development Guidelines

The Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) is consulting on four new initiatives, including new guidelines and measures aimed at ensuring compliance with key environmental laws relevant to the development industry. These laws and initiatives are applicable to the land use planning process, affecting municipal decision-making, development guidelines and penalties for non-compliance. The four initiatives are summarized, and their impact analyzed, in this article.

A great deal has been written, particularly since the recent U.S. Congressional campaign, studying the increasing predominance and impact of harmful language directed towards female candidates and politicians on social media platforms. Although few female politicians could discount the benefits of using social media to connect with and mobilize their constituency, the impacts of online sexism, harassment and threats disproportionately targeted at female politicians online is undeniable.

On February 16, 2021, Bill 245, the Accelerating Access to Justice Act, 2021, was introduced by the Ontario government to “improve access to justice for people across the system.
