OBA member Douglas Judson has received the Canadian Bar Association (CBA) 2015 Edward K. Rowan-Legg Award at the CBA Legal Conference in Calgary. The award recognizes a student member's outstanding contribution to the CBA.

The Ministry of Government and Consumer Services (MGCS) is currently seeking feedback on priorities and recommendations for reform of Ontario's corporate and commercial legislation.

The Michael Macnaughton Student Writing Award for Insolvency Law was created to encourage law students who are CBA/OBA Members who are pursuing a J.D. degree at an Ontario law school or registered as a student-at-law member of the Law Society of Upper Canada to prepare a written submission, having regard to the criteria set out here, on a recent case or a topical issue of interest to insolvency practitioners.

The OBA welcomes the 2015-2016 Insolvency Law Section Executive. The new executives assume their roles on August 15th, 2015. The Insolvency Law executive is responsible for facilitating learning, advocacy and networking on behalf of the Insolvency Law section.

Shaping and influencing policy development and legislation is an important role of the Ontario Bar Association (OBA). It is just one of the ways that the OBA serves its members and ensures they are well supported in their everyday work.

Many OBA members were among those honoured by The Law Society of Upper Canada at its annual awards ceremony recognizing outstanding members of the legal profession on Wednesday.

The OBA Insolvency Law Section is pleased to announce the 2015 OBA Murray Klein Award for Excellence in Insolvency Law will be presented to: Kevin McElcheran, Commercial Dispute Resolution.

The OBA Institute 2015 took place February 4-7, 2015 in Toronto and was a tremendous success.
