Bill C-78 will amend and modernize the Divorce Act. Definitions of custody and custody orders will be replaced with new parenting terminology that focuses on decision-making responsibility regarding a child’s education and significant extra-curricular activities.

The Ministry of the Attorney General will be expanding the online filing service for joint divorce applications province-wide in November 2018. Currently, this family service offering is only available in Brampton, Hamilton, Ottawa and Toronto.
