Expressions of Interest Due: Friday, January 9, 2015

We are looking for expressions of interest from human rights practitioners to present papers at this upcoming conference hosted by the Constitutional, Civil Liberties & Human Rights, Administrative Law, and Labour & Employment Law sections of the Ontario Bar Association.

We are interested in assembling a diverse group of speakers to present at the conference. As such, we encourage submissions from members of equality-seeking groups.

Presentations should focus on practical approaches to dealing with discrimination and harassment, remedies, substantive legal developments and practice/procedural developments at the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario and Canadian Human Rights Commission and Tribunal.

Some examples include:

  • substantive developments in human rights law and practice;
  • procedural and ethical considerations in human rights litigation;
  • human rights law in the courts, including appellate review;
  • damages and other remedies; and
  • human rights policies and compliance considerations.

Expressions of interest are due January 9, 2015. Your expression of interest should be no longer than 500 words, and should include three proposed topics. Please also provide a short biography. Please direct your expression of interest and any inquiries concerning the conference to Farah Malik at fmalik@weirfoulds.com.

Selections will be made from the proposals received. Selected presenters will be contacted by January 31, 2015. Presenters are required to submit a substantive paper by no later than May 8, 2015.
