At the September 28th Law Society of Upper Canada Convocation, LawPro announced base premium pricing for 2018, along with changes to the insurance program, including a change to the civil litigation transaction levy as follows:

Law Society Name Change; Equality Diversity and Inclusion; Information session on new obligations; Second Annual Access to Justice Week; Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration; CANFest 2017.

This year the Ontario Ministry of the Attorney General introduced a new online service for filing civil claims for six locations in the Superior Court of Justice. The service, which can be accessed here, has been available in the pilot locations of Brampton, Ottawa, London, Newmarket and Sudbury for approximately five months and in Toronto for two months.

The Ontario government intends to transition the review of procurement complaints to third-party providers.

The Ontario Bar Association (OBA) is pleased to announce Quinn Ross as the 83rd President of the OBA.

The Association for Continuing Legal Education (ACLEA) has awarded The Ontario Bar Association one of only 18 annual awards granted to competitors representing more than 300 organizations.

The OBA congratulates Juliet Knapton on her recent appointment to the Immigration and Refugee Board (Ottawa District Office).

The Civil Litigation Section is pleased to announce Peter Griffin, Lenczner Slaght Royce Smith Griffin LLP as the recipient of the 2017 OBA Award of Excellence in Civil Litigation.

The OBA welcomes the 2017-2018 Civil Litigation Section Executive. The new executives assume their roles on August 15th, 2017. The Civil Litigation Law executive is responsible for facilitating learning, advocacy and networking on behalf of the Civil Litigation Law section.
