Court Modernization: Superior Court E-Filing Pilot

  • April 28, 2017

Originally presented as a live webcast with QA session for OBA Members on April 21, 2017.

DESCRIPTION

Christopher Johns, Executive Director of the Innovation Office, Modernization Division at the Ministry of the Attorney General, will speak about a prototype civil e-filing service to be launched on April 24, 2017.

Phase 1 of the service will enable e-filing of the documents required to initiate a civil action in the Superior Court of Justice, auto-issuance of statements of claim and notices of action, and online payment. The pilot will be launched in Brampton, Ottawa, London, Newmarket and Sudbury, with a province-wide rollout to commence later in the year. The second phase of the service will be introduced shortly after the full rollout of phase 1, and will enable the e-filing of additional document types.

Learn more about this initiative and other modernization plans in a webinar for OBA members. This will be one of a number of opportunities for members of legal community to engage with the ministry as they develop new programs and services to enhance access to justice in Ontario.
