The Ontario Bar Association's Insurance Law Section cordially invites you to celebrate excellence in the profession as we present the 14th Annual OBA Award of Excellence in Insurance Law to two outstanding practitioners.

The Michael MacNaughton Student Writing Award for Insolvency Law was created to encourage law students who are CBA/OBA Members who are pursuing a J.D. degree at an Ontario law school or registered as a student-at-law member of the Law Society of Ontario to prepare a written submission on a recent case or a topical issue of interest to insolvency practitioners. 

Every year the Taxation Law Section of the OBA celebrates one of its members, acknowledged by peers as a leading practitioner and contributor to taxation law in Ontario through the OBA Award for Excellence in Taxation Law. This is your opportunity to recognize the colleagues, peers or mentors who have had the most meaningful impact on the practice in Ontario and in the advancing the profession as a whole.

TORONTO – The Ontario Bar Association is pleased to announce the winners of this year’s Association Awards. The recipients will be honoured at the annual OBA Awards Gala on April 17 in Toronto.

TORONTO – Ontario Bar Association President Lynne Vicars today named this year’s recipients of the OBA’s President’s Award.

The OBA will host a series of OBA Solution Circles over the coming months. OBA Solution Circles will address certain issues that we know are barriers to advancing gender equality (e.g., work interruptions and their impact on a legal career).

On Thursday, the LSO Convocation approved a number of changes to the good character assessment process. Included in the changes were recommendations put forward by the Ontario Bar Association based on the work of our Aboriginal Section.

Several changes were recently announced to the Rules of Civil Procedure, including changes to Estate forms, procedure on Applications, and clarifying the requirements for the evidence filed on a motion for removal of a lawyer of record
