OBA Members Leading Online Information Sessions throughout Seniors’ Month

  • June 01, 2020

The Ontario Bar Association – in partnership with community organizations across Ontario – is once again providing critical legal information throughout Seniors’ Month. These free online information sessions on the Law Protecting Older Adults will help seniors, families and caregivers gain more knowledge about the rights and responsibilities of older adults and those who care for them under Ontario law.

OBA member lawyers with expertise in the unique legal issues and needs of older adults will discuss a variety of topics, including capacity concerns, the importance of powers of attorney, and legal remedies for financial abuse of seniors.

“During a time in which many seniors are feeling particularly vulnerable, I hope these sessions will offer participants a measure of comfort and control through increased understanding of the laws in place to protect the rights and safeguard the wellbeing of older adults,” says Natalia Angelini, chair of the OBA’s Elder Law Executive, the group that prepared this year’s presentation. “In this time of social-distancing, I’m pleased to be one of many OBA volunteers finding new ways to connect members of my community with vital legal information.”

To join one of these online sessions, please register directly with the host using the contact info provided below.

If you are interested in learning more about the OBA’s Speakers Bureau program, or you would like to arrange an online information session on this or another legal topic for your organization, please email esinkins@oba.org.
