ELIZABETH HALL NAMED NEW OBA EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

February 1, 2018 (TORONTO) – After an extensive search process, The Ontario Bar Association (OBA) is pleased to announce that Elizabeth Hall is returning to the OBA, taking over the executive director position held by Steve Pengelly who announced his retirement in the fall of 2017 after more than a decade in service to the Association.

Ms. Hall was the OBA’s Director of Policy and Public Affairs for five years. Before joining the OBA, she practised law in a variety of practice settings - from large national Bay Street firms to a small firm in her hometown. She has also served in a number of government roles, including Chief of Staff to the Attorney General.

“We met with a number of incredibly capable people during the search process,” said Quinn Ross. “Ms. Hall was a standout because of her breadth of legislative intelligence, combined with her depth of understanding of the challenges and opportunities that face our 16,000 members across the province.”

“It has been an honour to be counted among Ontario’s lawyers for the last twenty years,” said Ms. Hall. I believe strongly in the critical role lawyers play in democratic society and I am grateful for the opportunity to help further the OBA’s mission to serve and support lawyers as they play that critical role.”

The appointment of the Association’s Executive Director falls within the scope of the OBA President with support from the Board of Directors. Ms. Hall’s duties at the Ontario Bar Association commence on February 20th.
