Re-tooled website built for social age of the Internet

NIAGARA FALLS – The Ontario Bar Association is launching a new, re-tooled website that is built for the social age of the Internet, including a new “Find-a-Lawyer” application.

“The new OBA website was built for the social age of the internet,” said OBA President Pascale Daigneault. “It will change the way we engage with our members, the profession and the public.”

The new website provides OBA volunteers and section members with forums to hold discussions on important issues to their practice or volunteer efforts with the OBA.

The Find-a-Lawyer app allows visitors to the site to search for a lawyer who is an OBA member based on their name, firm, location, area of practice and language spoken. To give visitors a sense of how close they are to the lawyers in their search, results are displayed on a Google Map with a listing of their contact details below.

“The “Find-a-Lawyer” app will help people to more easily find a lawyer who suits their needs,” said Daigneault. “This is a valuable new service that we are offering the public and lawyers who are OBA members.”

A new website will act as a social hub driven by social media sources such as Flickr photo galleries, Vimeo videos, LinkedIn Groups and Twitter.

Another key feature is a volunteer portal for the hundreds of OBA members who sit on committees, section executives, task forces, working groups and our governing bodies.  The portal provides volunteers with a central location for all their committee information such as meeting dates, times, documents and other important details.

The new OBA website will be officially launched at the OBA Council meeting which happens September 20-22 in Niagara Falls.
