OBA Celebrates Women’s History Month with Members of our First All-Female Officers Team

  • 20 octobre 2022

This October, as we celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Women’s History Month – with the theme “She Did, So Now I Can” – we asked the trailblazers who are making OBA history as members of our Board’s very first all-female officers team, about who inspires them today and how they themselves are leading inclusively and working to advance gender equality in the legal profession.

Check out our series of “Women’s History Month Moments” videos below, featuring OBA President Karen Perron, Immediate Past-President Charlene Theodore, 1st Vice-President Kelly McDermott, 2nd Vice-President Kathryn Manning, Secretary Signa Daum Shanks, and Treasurer Mariam Moktar.

Check mark Who is a Canadian woman who inspires you or whose positive impact on your professional life you feel right now – today?

Check mark What is one way you think a woman leading in law can ‘pay it forward’ – and create space or opportunity for emerging women leaders?

Check mark What’s one difference you’d like to help make as a member of the OBA Board?

Check mark In another 30 years, what’s a barrier to advancement /inclusion for women (in the profession or broader society) that you hope will not only be eradicated – but a distant memory?

Check mark If you could go back in time and offer one piece of advice to your brand-new-to-the-profession self, what would it be?

Check mark During this Women’s History Month, what’s a victory or a moment you’ll be celebrating.
