Largest Legal CPD Event at the Cutting Edge of the Profession

TORONTO – From February 5-9, the Ontario Bar Association (OBA) is bringing together lawyers from across the province to learn about and discuss some of the most important issues facing the legal profession today.

Now in its 44th year, OBA’s Institute remains the largest legal Continuing Professional Development event in Canada, with nearly 40 timely and essential programs presented throughout the week. The premier event is once again expected to bring together more than 2,000 lawyers, judges, law professors and law students.

“With so many great programs being offered in one place, Institute is always a highlight on the legal calendar,” said Marcia Oliver, co-chair of OBA’s Institute Committee. “Professional development plays such a strong role in nurturing today’s lawyers, and I’m proud of the great forward-thinking programs OBA’s Institute continues to put forward year after year.”

“As a way to share ideas, hear new opinions and meet up with your colleagues, OBA’s Institute can’t be beat,” added co-chair Michael Kealy. “It’s the best way for any lawyer to network and hear what the best minds in the profession have to say about some of the most important issues we face.”

Programs at Institute always focus on issues impacting a full range of practice areas within the legal industry. This year, these include:

Consultation, Consent & Shared Decision-Making: Implications for Indigenous Peoples, Project Proponents and the Management of Natural Resources in Ontario

Operationalizing Blockchain: Legal Issues and Challenges to Consider

Managing Legal Risks When Running a Cannabis Business

Personal Injury and Elder Law: Practice, Policy and Procedure
