In a year of marked human rights movements, the expertise, dedication and inspiration of lawyers helping people has been exciting to watch. One particular outstanding demonstration of perseverance and protection of the law and peoples’ civil rights and liberties is the group of lawyers who banded together earlier this year to form the Canadian Cross Border Legal Coalition in their efforts to assist those affected by U.S. Executive Orders 13769 and 13780, collectively known as the Trump Travel Bans.
The Canadian Cross Border Legal Coalition are the recipients of this year’s OBA President’s Award and will be honoured at the April 25th Gala.
Other awards and honourees who will also be recognized at the event include:

OBA’s Linda Adlam Manning Award for Volunteerism: Edwin G. Upenieks of Lawrence, Lawrence, Stevenson LLP
OBA’s Heather McArthur Memorial Young Lawyers’ Award: Jessica S. Braude of Wilson Christen LLP
The Attorney General of Ontario will also present the Mundell Medal for Legal Writing.
