Sarnia-area lawyers gathered to honour Ontario Bar Association President Pascale Daigneault and Janet Whitehead, president of the County and District Law Presidents Association.

It is the first time in history that both province-wide organizations have been headed at the same time by lawyers from Sarnia.

And while both organizations have previously had women presidents, it is the first time in history that both organizations have been headed at the same time by women.

The Lambton Law Association marked the historical firsts with a dinner September 6 at the Sarnia Riding Club.

“Some people might view it as a coincidence that we have two women lawyers from Sarnia running two important, province-wide organizations for our profession,” said Daigneault.

“But in some ways it is not an accident.  Sarnia has a great legal community, it is a wonderful place to practice and we have lawyers involved in all sorts of charities and community organizations.”

Among the notables attending were Bob Bailey, MPP for Sarnia-Lambton, Tom Conway, Treasurer of the Law Society of Upper Canada, and Noelle Wright, president of the Lambton Law Association.
