OBA Submission to the Law Society of Ontario re: Family Legal Services Provider Licence The OBA provided this submission to the Law Society of Ontario in response to the LSO’s consultation on the Family Legal Services Provider Licence, which would permit paralegals to practice in certain areas of family law.

The OBA provided a submission to the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario on a guidance document relating to the supervisory approach to asset transfers under the Pension Benefits Act.

The OBA provided a submission to the Attorney General and the Minister of Finance on the impact of the Calmusky decision for estate planning in Ontario and proposed legislative amendments to remedy same.

The OBA provided feedback to the Financial Services Tribunal on its two proposed practice directions on In-Person Hearings Covid-19 and Electronic Hearings while supporting fairness and access to justice principles.

The OBA provided a submission to the Standing Committee on Justice Policy on Bill 207, Moving Ontario Family Law Forward Act, 2020.

The OBA provided a submission to the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario on guidance documents relating to the issue of missing members.

The OBA made this submission calling for the expansion of mandatory mediation in Ontario.

The OBA provided a submission to the Office of the Attorney General on the appropriate defined value of “small estate” under the Estates Act and several other areas of estates law reform.

The OBA drafted this letter in response to the Director of Title’s advisement that Ontario would be discontinuing counter services at the Land Registry Offices.

The OBA submission raised a number of issues with the proposed framework including seeking that it be consistent with the requirements for in-person commissioning and that the term ‘client’ not be used in the regulations.
