The OBA provided a submission to Legal Aid Ontario regarding the draft rules prepared by LAO pursuant to the Legal Aid Services Act, 2020.

The OBA responded to the Ministry’s consultation to provide mandatory WSIB coverage of PSWs and DSWs. The OBA noted the benefits for PSWs and DSWs that such coverage would provide as well as certain legal issues that would need to be contemplated and addressed in such an expansion

The OBA submitted a letter to the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development regarding proposed regulatory amendments to Ontario Regulation 422/17 (General) and Ontario Regulation 421/17 (Approvals under the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program and Other Matters) under the Ontario Immigration Act, 2015, pertaining to the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program’s Entrepreneur Stream.

The OBA provided a submission to the Office of the Chief Justice of the Ontario Court of Justice outlining concerns about the delay arising from the special bail hearing procedure, and providing recommendations to reduce same.

The OBA recommended an amendment to the Personal Property Security Act to avoid priority problems arising from interaction with the Factors Act.

The OBA provided a submission to the Ontario Court of Justice outlining the challenges experienced with criminal virtual case management courts, and providing recommendations to improve the process.

The OBA provided a submission to the Standing Committee on the Legislative Assembly on Bill 245, Accelerating Access to Justice Act, 2021 (Schedules 8 & 9).

The OBA sent a letter to the Solicitor General and the Attorney General outlining concerns about the Covid-19 situation in Ontario’s correctional facilities, and providing recommendations on steps to be taken to ameliorate same.

The OBA made a submission to the Ontario Land Tribunal on their proposed Draft New Rules to harmonize the practices and procedures in a proceeding before any Tribunal within Ontario Land Tribunals.
