Today, Chief Justice Morawetz issued a Notice to the Profession with an update on jury trials and jury selection in select regions. The Notice outlines that due to the deteriorating public health situation in Brampton and Toronto, new jury selection and new jury trials will not resume on November 16, 2020 as previously announced. The Notice also suspends new jury selection and new jury trials in Milton and Orangeville as those court locations had been using the Pearson Centre in Brampton for jury selection. Jury trials that are currently in progress may proceed subject to the decision of the trial judge. In-person non-jury matters will continue to proceed. For more information, see the Notice.
