The Ministry of the Attorney General, Court Services Division, has advised that an in-custody phone line has been installed to be used by defence counsel when they urgently need to speak to their client at the TRBC to support a bail hearing.

Changes to the JSO platform that will impact how users can sign-in to their JSO account and the payment method for court filings fees have been delayed.

The Ministry of the Attorney General asked the Ontario Bar Association to share this Notice to Justice Participants with its membership. The Ministry has identified and addressed an issue affecting the recent appointment of eleven judges of the Ontario Court of Justice.

The Ontario Business Registry (OBR) Partner Portal is a convenient, digital service that offers businesses more choices to conduct over 90 transactions with the OBR. It allows intermediaries to conduct transactions on behalf of their business clients and is one of several existing service channels that can be used to interact with the OBR system. Over the past year, the Partner Portal has been continuously improved based on consultation with stakeholders to incorporate desired system features.

In an effort to reduce delay and increase efficiency, the following changes (some of which were suggested at the OBA Bail the Boat sessions) will apply to the scheduling of select civil appearances in the Toronto region:

On July 31, 2023, The Ministry of the Attorney announced that it will be releasing additional enhancements to its Justice Services Online (JSO) platform. The following enhancements will be deployed on August 21, 2023.

The Ministry of the Attorney General filed a regulation amending Reg. 194 under the Courts of Justice Act (Rules of Civil Procedure), amending 3 probate application forms, and creating transition rules to permit service and filing of the old forms. The regulation is in force as of July 6, 2023.

Assistant Deputy Attorney General, announced on December 5, 2022, increases to civil, small claims and family court fees in the Superior Court of Justice and Court of Appeal for Ontario, as well as fee waiver eligibility thresholds, all of which will come into effect on January 1, 2023.
