TORONTO – Following the close of the election today, the Ontario Bar Association (OBA) is pleased to announce its 2021-2022 Board of Directors. With the combination of experience and diverse perspectives, the board is ideally suited to move the profession forward in post-pandemic times.

Justice Leanne E. Standryk has been appointed a Judge of the Superior Court of Justice of Ontario. Justice Standryk replaces Justice R.A. Lococo (St. Catharines), who elected to become a supernumerary judge effective February 1, 2021.

Attorney General Doug Downey has named Justice Sandra Bacchus as a new regional senior justice to the Ontario Court of Justice. Justice Bacchus will replace Regional Senior Justice Aston Hall, in the Toronto region, effective June 3.

The Toronto Police Service and the Ministry of the Attorney General have announced that they will be expanding video bails to 51 division supporting College Park and 43 division supporting 1911 Eglinton. The expansion is expected to occur in mid/late April at 51 division, followed by 43 division. More information will become available in the upcoming weeks.
