This year (2004-2005), the YLD (Eastern Region) decided to hold a Thank You to Volunteers Party to honour and thank all of the volunteers (Law Day, Mock Trial, various speakers, etc.) who helped make our 2004-2005 season so successful.  The Party was held on June 15, 2005 at local restaurant Hot Peppers, which provided complementary Thai munchies.  At the Party, YLD (Eastern Region) Chair, Lillian Camilleri addressed the crowd, thanking everyone for their support and assistance throughout the year.  Later, Megan Cornell, a Member-At-Large of our YLD (Eastern Region) Executive, and co-organizer (along with Past Chair, Yasir Naqvi) of the first-ever Young Lawyers Capital Food Bank Blitz, made a presentation of a sizeable cheque to Peter Tilly of the Ottawa Food Bank which represented the money raised.  Mr. Tilly expressed the Food Bank’s thanks for the results of our endeavours which, in addition to the cheque, also included the collection of over 6000lbs. of food.  Well-attended, the Thank You to Volunteers Party was a very enjoyable evening, and it gave us the opportunity to extend a long overdue “Thank You” to all of our tireless volunteers!
