Course Location & Registration
All Continuing Legal Education programs (except for Criminal Justice) and all special events (except for the YLD program and dinner) will be held on Monday, February 4 and Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at the South Building, Metro Toronto Convention Centre (MTCC), 222 Bremner Blvd., Toronto. All conference facilities are accessible by wheelchair.
When you arrive at the MTCC, please go directly to the OBA registration desk, which will be located on the 700 level. There you will receive your registration kit, including a name badge and admission ticket(s) to your program(s) and special events. The registration desk will open at 7:00 a.m. to accommodate those who are attending breakfast programs. Coffee and muffins will be available by 7:45 a.m. Due to the large number of registrants and programs, please allow at least 20 minutes before the start of your program for registration.
The Criminal Justice program will be held Saturday, February 2 at the OBA Conference Centre, 20 Toronto Street, 2nd Floor, Toronto. Registration tables will be located on the second floor. The registration desk will be open at 8:15 a.m.
The YLD program and dinner will be held Monday, February 4 in the evening at the InterContinental Toronto Centre. For details, see page 31.
InterContinental Toronto Centre - Hotel Accommodation
Registrants at the OBA’s 2008 Institute may stay at the InterContinental Toronto Centre (formerly the Crowne Plaza), 225 Front Street West, which adjoins the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Our conference rate is $189 per night, single or double occupancy plus applicable taxes. This special rate is available for the Institute and for three days immediately before and after (subject to availability). To book your room, please call the hotel directly at 416-597-1400 or 1-800-327-0200. Ask for the Reservation desk and indicate that you are attending the Ontario Bar Association Institute or ask for group code OBF. Please advise the hotel directly of any changes or cancellations. Book by January 14, 2008 to receive the special conference rate. Bookings after this date are subject to availability and prevailing rates.
Fees
The registration fee for all CLE programs includes lunch, refreshment breaks and materials. Materials will be distributed on the day of the program.
Financial Hardship
The OBA Bursary Program provides registration at reduced prices to OBA members in good standing. Members who qualify and wish to participate in the program are required to submit a fully completed application to OBA Professional Development staff. OBA Registration and Refund Policy
Registrations must be pre-paid and will be accepted on a first-come,
first-served basis. Please register in writing using the form provided in the Institute brochure, or you can register online at
http://www.oba.org/2008institute. Registrations may be sent by FAX to 416-642-0424 and by MAIL to Ontario Bar Association, 300-20 Toronto Street, Toronto ON, M5C 2B8. A credit card number must accompany all faxed registrations. Please note that any registrations that arrive without payment will not be processed. If you have any special dietary requirements, please note them on your registration form. Any special meal requirements received after January 25, 2008 cannot be guaranteed. Walk-in registrations will be accommodated space permitting and only if accompanied by credit card or cheque. Seating and meal preference, if applicable, will be given to pre-paid registrants.
Cancellations
Registrations can be cancelled and course fees refunded if OBA receives notice in writing by January 25, 2008. All cancellations are subject to a $53.00 administrative fee (including GST). No refunds will be made if notification is received after the cancellation date and any unpaid registration will be invoiced for the full amount owing, whether or not you attend. If you are unable to attend on the day of the program, you may send a delegate in your place. If the delegate is not in the same membership category, a surcharge will apply. OBA reserves the right to cancel or reschedule CLE programs, refuse admission, substitute or change speakers, location or content at any time and without prior notice.
