Call for Applications The Roger Fisher Negotiation Training Scholorship



Applications for The Roger Fisher Negotiation Training Scholarship are invited until April 23, 2008. One Scholarship will be awarded annually. 

The Scholarship entitles the recipient to attend the Become a Powerful Negotiator Workshop, offered by the Stitt Feld Handy Group www.sfhgroup.com.

QUALIFICATIONS Applicants must be residents of Ontario and demonstrate:

(1) why you would not otherwise be able to obtain negotiation training;

(2) how you have demonstrated an interest in negotiation skills and dispute resolution;

(3) how you would benefit personally from negotiation training; and

(4) how the community at-large, and/or public interest, community or pro bono organizations or companies providing such services with which you are involved would benefit from you strengthening your negotiation and dispute resolution skills.

WHAT DOES THE SCHOLARSHIP COVER? The Scholarship covers the registration fees for Become a Powerful Negotiator Workshop, a negotiation training course based on Roger Fisher's negotiation theories and approaches. The Scholarship recipient must take the course within 12 months. The Scholarship recipient is responsible for his/her own travel, accommodation and other expenses.

HOW WILL THE SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT BE SELECTED? The Roger Fisher Tribute Scholarship Committee, comprised of representatives of the ADR Institute of Canada, The Advocates' Society, the Ontario Bar Association, the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Ontario Community Mediation Coalition, and other leaders in the ADR community will select the 2008 Scholarship winner.

BACKGROUND TO THE SCHOLARSHIP The Roger Fisher Negotiation Training Scholarship was created as part of the lasting legacy of The Roger Fisher Tribute held in Toronto in 2007. The Tribute involved 26 legal and ADR organizations from around the world coming together to honour Roger Fisher for his lifetime of achievements in dispute resolution.

Allan Stitt, President of the Stitt Feld Handy Group, says of Roger Fisher: "Roger's teachings, and the teachings of those who worked with him, have changed the approach to negotiation, and to mediation, of people around the world."
