Charity and Not-for-Profit Law Section: AMS/John Hodgson Award

OBA in conjunction with Associated Medical Services Incorporated (AMS) created the AMS/John Hodgson Award to recognize John Hodgson’s long standing contribution to AMS and the charitable community. This Award recognizes exceptional contribution and/or achievement by members of OBA in the following areas: development of the law, which is integral to the governance and accountability in the voluntary sector; enhancement of the practice of law in the charity arena; and leadership and service in the charitable sector, Charity and Not-for-Profit Law Section, government, Law Society of Upper Canada and OBA, exemplifying individual lawyers and legal advisors to the voluntary sector.
Eligibility: Any individual of the OBA in good standing
Presentation: The award will be presented at a dinner program of the Charity and Not-for-Profit Law Section on September 14, 2006
Nomination Procedure: Any member of OBA in good standing is eligible to nominate a candidate by submission in writing, together with a curriculum vitae outlining the nominee's qualifications. The Nominations Committee may set up a Steering Committee to provide recommendations. The nominator must indicate that the candidate has been advised of the nomination prior to the nomination deadline and consents to the nomination.
Deadline for Applications: Nominations and supporting material must be filed with the Nominations Committee of the Charity and Not-for-Profit Section by May 17, 2006.  Please fax to (416) 865-7380 to the attention of Heather Hisey, Chair of the Charity & Not-for-Profit Law Section
Selection Process: The Nominations Committee will review the nominations and submit candidates to the Officers of the Executive of the Charity and Not-for-Profit Law Section. The receipt shall be chosen by a majority vote of the Officers at a regular meeting or at a special meeting of the Officers of the Executive called for that purpose. The number of awards to be presented annually will not exceed one.
Award: A special plaque is presented to the recipient.
