Archives


Since the inception of the Archives Committee in 1987 the purpose has been to: obtain and preserve records, photographs and memorabilia; gather and prepare a biography of past president and; prepare a history of the Ontario Branch of the Canadian Bar Association.

Awards

This special Committee was formed in 1988 to honor members of OBA for distinguished service to the public, the profession, jurisprudence and the law in Ontario. After notification to the members, applications are received and considered by the Committee. The award, in the form of a statuette, is presented to the recipients at the Council Dinner held in December of each year.

Continuing Legal Education - Main

The CLE Main Committee ensures that the OBA provides relevant and timely education to its members. The committee provides individuals and sections with direction regarding continuing education, reviews proposals for programs and approves seminars for delivery.

Equal Opportunity


The Committee was established in September 1992 with a mandate to examine and recommend upon the impact of race, ethnicity, religion or disability upon OBA's by-laws, electoral processes, policies, submissions, and activities. Further responsibilities include identifying the incidence of inequality of opportunity in the legal profession in Ontario based on race, ethnicity, religion or disability and recommend methods to eliminate it. Finally, the Committee was charged to examine and recommend upon the ability of the legal institutions in Ontario to serve the needs of minorities, as identified by race, ethnicity, religion or disability.

Law Day


Law Day is celebrated annually to inform the public about the importance of the rule of law in our society, and the important role that lawyers and the judiciary serve in guaranteeing an open, independent and unbiased system.
