CCCA

The Canadian Corporate Counsel Association was established in 1988 by the National Council of the Canadian Bar Association to replace the national corporate law section of the CBA. Membership in the CBA is a prerequisite for membership in the CCCA.

Today, with almost 5,000 regular members and 11 regional chapters (including ones in Toronto and Ottawa), the CCCA is the national professional forum and communal voice for in-house counsel in Canada. Through its two annual conferences - the Spring Conference in April and the Annual Meeting in August - and its chapter CLE programs, the CCCA leads the way in providing continuing education and management programs to corporate counsel.

For more information, please contact the CCCA at 416-869-0522 or ccca@ccca-cba.org. Or visit the new CCCA website here.

LINK

We are pleased to announce that LINK - The Lawyers' Assistance Program has retained the services of Warren Shepell Consultants to provide a professional counselling and referral service for all of our members.

The counsellors at Warren Shepell Consultants are highly trained and experienced across a broad range of personal and work-related problem areas. For example, marital and family problems, child-related concerns, alcohol and drug misuse, emotional difficulties, vocational and career-related concerns and financial worries are all addressed by LINK. A counsellor can assist you with any problem or concern that may be troubling you.

The project fee for these Warren Shepell services has been paid for in advance by LINK - The Lawyers' Assistance Program. The confidential counselling service is available, at no cost, to each member. Should specialized assistance be required, your Warren Shepell counsellor will make a referral to appropriate professionals and agencies in the community. The fees for such referral services are the responsibility of the member. However, some of these services may be covered by your provincial health plan or your extended benefits plan.

The counselling service - available off-site and on a 24-hour basis - can be accessed by calling the following numbers: For first time appointments, counselling, appointment changes, administrative matters, office locations, directions and general information call:

English: 1 866-261-6704
French: 1 866-261-6718

Confidentiality and privacy are assured, within the limits of the law, to each member who uses the counselling service. Contact is made directly to Warren Shepell Consultants, and no information on any individual case comes back to LINK, or any other group.

This new member benefit reflects our continuing commitment to the physical and emotional well-being of our members. We trust that this additional form of assistance will serve our members well as they continue to contribute in unique and important ways to their success.

LINK works on a complementary basis with the Ontario Bar Assistance Program. LINK provides professional counselling and referral services; OBAP provides volunteer peer support to lawyers, judges and law students. Together, LINK and OBAP meet the needs of the profession on a personal and professional basis.
