On December 8th, the Canadian Corporate Counsel Association - Ontario Chapter enjoyed an evening of networking with colleagues and friends at Alterna Savings and Bank at Place De Ville Branch.

On June 22nd, the 2016 Award of Excellence in the Promotion of Women’s Equality was presented to Sukanya Pillay, Executive Director and General Counsel, Canadian Civil Liberties Association & Education Trust at a dinner in her honour. Ms. Pillay addressed delegates and shared her wisdom and experiences on the challenges and opportunities in promoting women’s equality in Canada and around the world.

Each year, the Privacy and Access to Information Law Section of the Ontario Bar Association recognizes the achievements of one of their distinguished members. This year, Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario, Brian Beamish was awarded with the 2016 Karen Spector Memorial Award for Excellence in Privacy Law at a special award presentation at Twenty Toronto Street Conferences and Events.

The Ontario Bar Association Health Law section was proud to present the inaugural OBA Susan Hilary Davidson Memorial Award for Excellence in Health Law to Lonny J. Rosen C.S.. On June 20th, 2016 friends, family, colleagues and distinguished guests gathered together at Twenty Toronto Street Conferences and events to celebrate Mr. Rosen’s significant contributions to the profession.

On May 25th, the Ontario Bar Association Public Sector Lawyers Section celebrated the contributions and achievements of The Honourable Howard I. Wetston Q.C., honouring him with the 2016 Tom Marshall Award of Excellence for Public Sector Lawyers. Held at Twenty Toronto Street Conferences and Events the evening featured a Keynote Address from The Honourable Paul Crampton, Chief Justice of the Federal Court of Canada, as well as Alan Lenczner, Murray D. Segal.

The OBA Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Conference (SOGIC) welcomed members of the OBA and the legal community to march in the 36th annual Pride Toronto parade on Sunday, July 3, 2016. Below are some of the photos from the day’s event!

On June 7th, 2016 the OBA-YLD (East Division) hled a cocktail reception at the Rideau Club in Ottawa with the Honourable Justice Michael Moldaver of the Supreme Court of Canada. Justice Moldaver shared his experiences.

On June 8th, 2016 the OBA International Law Section proudly presented the OBA Award of Excellence in International Law to Elo Tulving-Blais, Tulving-Blais International Business and Tech Law. The event was held at Twenty Toronto Street Conferences and Events.

On June 7th, 2016 the OBA Canadian Corporate Counsel Association- Ontario Chapter Section proudly presented the CCCA Ontario Chapter Award of Excellence to Brian D. Wylynko Managing Director, Regional Counsel & Corporate Secretary FedEx Express Canada. The event was held at The Law Society of Upper Canada, Convocation Hall.

The OBA Construction and Infrastructure Law Section honoured Geza R. Banfai as the winner of this year’s Award of Excellence in Construction and Infrastructure Law at an award dinner on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at the Albany Club.
