Update: The Online Filing Service for Joint Divorce Applications is Available as of November 19, 2018

The Ministry of the Attorney General is pleased to announce that as of Monday November 19, 2018, the online filing service for joint divorce applications (Ontario.ca/familyclaims) is available across Ontario, following a successful pilot.

Divorce can be one of the most difficult events in a person’s life.  The ability to file online is saving litigants travel, time, and stress.  The service enables litigants and lawyers to file documents for a joint divorce application, which may also include claims for custody, access, child support, and spousal support on consent.  Users can pay court fees online securely by credit or debit card.

Guided Pathways to Family Court Forms

To further assist Ontarians with resolving their family law disputes, the Ministry of the Attorney General has partnered with Community Legal Education Ontario (CLEO) to develop online interactive Guided Pathways to Family Court Forms.

Currently, the online pathways take users through a series of questions to help them complete the forms required for a joint or simple divorce (https://stepstojustice.ca/guided-pathways-divorce-forms) and for filing a separation agreement (https://stepstojustice.ca/guided-pathway-filing-your-separation-agreement).  At the end of the pathway, the user receives a next steps checklist and a package of their completed forms, which they can save or print.

In the coming months, CLEO will be releasing additional pathways to help people complete forms on child support, custody, access, and other issues.

Joint divorce online filing and Guided Pathways are complementary online services that aim to strengthen the family justice system by making it more efficient and easier to use.
